So true. I have had five pairs of the 9's and love them! I can't even run in the 10s' or 11's: they jacked the heel up and the midsole is way too stiff. I have had to look elsewhere as I've been with the Cumulus since the 6's, and before that, since the early 1980's with the GT-II, the Excaliber GT, and the Epirus, just to name a few of my favorites.

I'm trying the Landreths now, and find that the midsole of the 6's is too squooshy, so I'm trying to find a pair of 5's as these are a little more firm according to many raters.

I hate to think my best option is the Pegasus 27, but that's all I can find out there right now. In my opinion, Tiger cannot even say that it makes a neutral shoe for long-distance (marathon or over) runners at this point in time, and I've worn Tigers almost exclusively for 35 years. Very disappointed.

I have been running with Asics Cumulus 8's and 9's for many years and always found them a fantastic neutrel shoe. I then went out and purchased a pair of Cumulus 10's - worst mistake I ever made!. Caused calf problems among other issues. I have now found some 9's from Mr Price Sport and bought 2 pairs (should last me beyond Comrades). My other option was to try another brand but with training for Comrades really wanted to stay with what was working. Why the change from 9 to 10 and will 11 give the same problems as 10?

I've always ran in cumulus 8's and 9's but they are nearly impossible to get now. I got a pair of 10's but do not like them at all, they are nothing like the 8's and 9's. In my opinion they have a higher arch and are not as neutral as the 8's and 9's. I am in need of a new pair of trainers but am finding it difficult to get the 9's now so has anybody found any other model of trainer that is similar to the cumulus 8 or 9?

Thanks for this almost-scientific comparison.

After a year running with my 9s, I bought 10s. I was very satisfied of my 9s but they were starting to wear off. 10s have always seemed stiffer to me, but I could not tell if I was me or the shoes, because I'm only an occasional runner.

Anyway, even if I miss a bit my 9s, 10s are great enough to prevent me from any pain and are enjoyable to run with. But I would not get anything stiffer for my next running shoes.

You're absolutely right Nick, any shoe review is bound to be subjective, as everyone's needs are different. 9s and 10s are both good shoes, I just find the 9s a bit softer and more neutral. Hope you like them if you get a pair.

Thanks for the useful comparison.
I currently have Cumulus 10's and have been happy with them for the past year, but now it's time to replace I'm finding it difficult to justify the cost again.

Therefore I started looking and found some Cumulus 9's significantly cheaper. As with most things, I assumed the 10 is a vast improvement, but thought I'd do a search on cumulus 9 vs cumulus 10 and found your review.

Whilst I appreciate that it is your own subjective review and our running style may differ, it's certainly an interesting comparison and something that I'll bear in mind whilst making my decision!
